Dancer and choreographer Frédéric Gies created 'Dance is Ancient' in 2016 to investigate the boundaries between the stage and the audience and establish new systems for audience participation. Since then, the originally seven-hour piece has evolved in various ways, incorporating not only performances but knowledge-sharing workshops and curation. Gies appears at Ephemera this year alongside German dancefloor scientist Fiedel, a veteran producer and DJ who's best known for his genre-dissolving collaborations with Errorsmith, and his decades-long association with OstGut and Berghain.
